Introduction and Objectives

The MS-Computer Science program is intended for those students who are looking forward to building upon knowledge and skills of computer science. The MS-Computer Science program takes a step forwards advanced courses and covers topics in the domains of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Technology and Security, and Computer Networking and Security.

The main objective of MS Computer Science Program is to empower the students with the knowledge, training, and expertise at relatively high level in the major areas of the Computer Science. Proposed program is intended to establish independent learning skills of the students and prepare them for the doctoral level study.

Vision

We aim to enhance the academic, scholastic and technological knowledge of the students to make them more competitive in the research field. Enable the students to contribute to the economy of Pakistan through entrepreneurship and innovative technological solutions for the real-world problems of the global / local industry and society.

Mission
  1. Develop highly qualified professionals capable of adapting with ease to the dynamic field of computing.
  2. Broaden and deepen understanding of computer science to develop independent thinker who can develop innovative solutions.
  3. Develop leadership qualities, ethical principles, business acumen, and professional conduct in students.
Program Education Objectives (PEOs)
  1. Graduate should be able to adopt and apply rapidly evolving computing technology to offer innovative solutions for real-world problems
  2. Graduate should be able to handle tasks individually or as a member or a leader in a team with professional ethics   
  3. Graduate should be able to exhibit entrepreneurial skills using innovative thinking and critical analysis approach
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  3. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  4. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  5. Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission in MS Computer Science

The minimum requirements for admission in a MS Computer Science program are

  1. A degree earned after sixteen years of education in computing or a related discipline; AND
  2. At least CGPA of 2.5 (on a scale of 4.0) or 70% Marks
  3. Must clear university entry test with 50% OR any entry test from HEC approved testing service.
  4. The following courses must be completed before entering into the MS Computer Scienceprogram at MiTE.
  5. Design and Analysisof Algorithms
  6. AssemblyLanguage / Computer Architecture
  7. OperatingSystems
  8. Theoryof Automata

A student selected for admission having deficiency in the above stated courses is required to study above FOUR courses, which must be passed in the first two semesters. Deficiency courses shall be determined by the department Graduate Research Committee, before admitting the student.

  1. A student cannot register in MS courses, unless all specified deficiency courses have beenpassed.
  2. Astudent has the option to pursue MS by undertaking either a 6 credit hour MS Thesis OR a three credit hour taught course and a three credit-hour MS Proj

 

Duration of MS Computer Science & Semester-Wise Break-Up

The Minimum duration for completion of MS Computer Science program is 2 years and maximum duration is 4 years. A generalize semester wise break-up is as follows:

MS Computer Science Degree Requirements

To become eligible for award of MS Computer Science degree, a student must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Must have studied and passed the prescribed courses, totaling at least 30 credit hours.
  2. Must have earned CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of at least 2.5 on a scale of 4.0
